Avoid trans fat to reduce cholesterol

Artificial trans fat are produced by hydrogenating unsaturated fats such as vegetable oils to change their structure and solidify them at room temperature. While trans fats occur naturally in red meat and dairy products. Frying the oils repetitively also leads to production of trans fats.  Research shows that eating artificial trans fats increases “bad” LDL cholesterol, lowers “good” HDL cholesterol.
