A study found that consuming whole fruits, like pears, lowered the risk of type 2 diabetes. Apple and pear consumption was inversely associated with T2DM risk. Consumption of apples and pears was associated with 18% reduction in T2DM risk. One serving per week increment of apple and pear consumption was associated with a 3% reduction in T2DM risk. Consuming pears along with maintaining a healthy diet may help control early-stage diabetes as well.
