White rice and Diabetes risk

Higher consumption of white rice is associated with a significantly increased risk of type 2 diabetes. Data suggest that higher white rice consumption is associated with increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes in comparison with lower intake levels. The glycemic index values of white rice are higher on average than those of whole grains. Diets with a high glycemic index are associated with increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
